San Lorenzo Nuovo ‘Stories on the Move’: six itineraries of nature, culture, and taste in the Tuscia region
Excursions, workshops, and tastings to discover the San Lorenzo Nuovo area between Lake Bolsena, the Via Francigena, and local traditions
“Stories on the Move” begins, the new cycle of experiences dedicated to discovering the territory of San Lorenzo Nuovo.
The initiative offers six itineraries exploring nature, culture, and local traditions, featuring guided excursions, hands‑on workshops, and tastings of local products.
The project is promoted by the Municipality of San Lorenzo Nuovo as part of Ideal Vegetal City, a cultural regeneration program funded by the PNRR – NextGenerationEU. It is curated by the cultural association Comunità Narranti and Four Seasons Natura e Cultura, in collaboration with the Consorzio Camminatori Indipendenti.
The events will take place weekly from 22 March to 3 May, giving participants the opportunity to discover the village and its landscape through immersive experiences that combine nature trekking, territorial storytelling, and local gastronomic traditions.
A journey through nature and landscape in the Tuscia region
The itineraries will cross some of the most evocative landscapes of the Alto Viterbese, including the shores of Lake Bolsena, the trails of the Soana Forest, the routes of the Via Francigena, and the atmospheric Val di Lago, ending in the eighteenth‑century historic center of San Lorenzo Nuovo.
The excursions will be led by professional environmental hiking guides and enriched with moments of storytelling and landscape interpretation, turning the walk into an experience of discovery—of the territory, its history, and the relationship between the community and its environment.
Experiential workshops and local knowledge
Each excursion will be accompanied by a workshop dedicated to traditional knowledge, featuring hands‑on activities and storytelling moments led by local artisans and experts.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore and experiment with a variety of themes, including:
- the sentimental garden and our relationship with the landscape
- identifying wild edible plants
- crafting traditional countryside walking sticks
- preparing dishes from the local culinary tradition
- the famous Biscotto di Sant’Antonio
Tastings and local products
Each event will be accompanied by tastings of local agri‑food products, including wine, olive oil, honey, cured meats, legumes, and baked goods from the producers of San Lorenzo Nuovo who collaborate in the project.
The initiative is therefore an opportunity to highlight the excellence of Tuscia’s local production and to promote a model of sustainable tourism in small villages, capable of bringing together culture, nature, and gastronomic traditions.
