“Fermento”, Three Days in San Lorenzo Nuovo among Wine, Music and Culture

On May 15th, 16th and 24th, the Festival of Natural and Local Wines as part of the PNRR Ideal Vegetal City project

Three days of events among wine, music and culture in San Lorenzo Nuovo, the town in Alta Tuscia that represents a rare example of a small planned town with an eighteenth-century urban layout.

This is “Fermento – Festival of Natural and Local Wines”, an eno-cultural festival promoted by the Municipality of San Lorenzo Nuovo as part of the PNRR Ideal Vegetal City project. The programme, curated by the Associazione La Festa delle Medie, includes seven events, in various locations, on 15, 16 and 24 May 2026.

The Festival Programme

It starts on Friday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m. at Caffè Centrale, in the octagonal Piazza Europa, the physical and symbolic heart of the local community, with tastings of natural wines from the CinqueSensi winery and an aperitif.
In the evening, at 9:00 p.m., the cloister of the Capuchin Friars’ Convent will host the jazz concert by the duo Lorenzo Cimino (trumpet) and Gianni Grondacci (electric bass). Cimino, artistic director of the La Spezia International Jazz Festival, carries out an intense concert and composition activity in Italy and abroad. Grondacci boasts collaborations with Bruno Lauzi, Alexia, Gino Paoli, Irene Grandi, Alan Sorrenti, Lucio Dalla and many others, as well as appearances at major live events and television programmes.

On Saturday, May 16th, again at 6:00 p.m. at Caffè Centrale, the spotlight will be on winemakers Daniele Fuso (Cantina Pulaio), Patricia Nelson (Cantina Gazzetta) and Joy Kull (La Villana), for an interview accompanied by wine tastings and cheeses from Il Pecoraro.
Afterwards, at 9:00 p.m., the event will move to the amphitheatre in Largo Campo della Fiera for the pop concert by SciROCKati, an Italian rock cover band made up of Francesco Perquoti (vocals), Matteo Dragoni (drums), Franco Moncelsi (bass), Davide Ferretti (guitar), and Cristian Prato Fiorito (keyboards).

Particularly evocative is the event scheduled for Sunday, May 24th at 5:35 a.m.: the “Dawn Concert” in the new performance area by the ruins of the Church of San Giovanni in Val di Lago. Here, in a piano solo performance, Alessio Pedini will take the stage, a young Umbrian pianist devoted to composing his own pieces, highly appreciated by audiences and critics alike, as well as to perfecting his study of celebrated composers such as Bach, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov.

The day will continue at 10:00 a.m. at Caffè Centrale with “Breakfast with the Author”. The guest will be Nicolò Mazza de’ Piccioli, born in Bergamo in 1984 and resident in Rome for twenty years. He has worked in cinema in various roles and is the author, among other things, of short films and documentaries. His first novel, “Scontrosa Grazia”, received recognition at the Premio InediTo – Colline di Torino 2024.
He will be in conversation with Alessandra Sabbatini, editor, ghostwriter and proofreader. She collaborates with the Carmen Prestia Literary Agency in the selection of unpublished manuscripts.

“Fermento” will conclude at 6:00 p.m. in the Church of Santa Maria Assunta (Capuchin Friars’ Convent) with “Opera Arias”. On stage will be two brilliant internationally renowned opera singers, Silvia Pasini (mezzo-soprano) and Andrea Carcassi (bass), accompanied on piano by Davide Dellisanti, a prestigious musician and conductor who has collaborated with leading figures on the international opera scene, as well as artistic director of the Taormina Opera Stars festival.
